QIIP Requirements |
May 28, 2016
In a few short days, the Quebec immigration office will begin accepting new applications under the successful Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP). Intake of applications will run from May 30th 2016 to February 28th 2017, however, due to the popularity of the program, the set quota will be filled much sooner.
The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) is attracting high net worth individuals from across the globe who are looking for Canadian permanent residence by making a passive investment. Quebec’s program is the only one of its kind in Canada and is the second largest in North America after the US EB-5 investor program. For the QIIP, investors are required to make an investment of CAD $800,000 into the province that is guaranteed to be returned by the Quebec government, without interest, after a period of five years.
The quota for the new intake period is set at a maximum of 1900 applications, 1330 of which can come from China, Hong Kong, and Macao. This leaves only 570 spots for applications to be filled from the rest of the world. Applicants with an intermediate-advanced level of French proficiency, attested by an approved language test, are exempt from the quota and can continue to submit their applications at any time.
Below is a brief summary of the QIIP requirements:
