The Federal government won't accept any Farm Management Stream Self-Employed applications, Canada’s immigration authorities posted on Saturday March 10th , 2018 . However, feedback from visa officers indicates that this is a tough class to succeed in. You must have significant experience in farming and demonstrate that you have the skills to succeed in supporting yourself and your family through farming in Canada.

The processing fee for citizenship applications for minors who are applying for Canadian Citizenship under subsection 5(1) of the Citizenship Act has been reduced by the Government of Canada from CAD530 to CAD100.The significant change in the fee will be equivalent to the processing fee paid by minors who have a Canadian citizen or parent applying along with them.

The Government of Canada has once again extended the Open Work Permit Pilot for sponsored spouses and common-law partners who are applying for permanent residence. In an update issued Dec. 15, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said the pilot program under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada (SCLPC) Class was being extended until Jan. 31, 2019.

Visa-exempt travellers will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to boarding their flight to Canada. Until January 31, 2017 dual citizens whose second citizenship is from a visa-exempt country will be able to apply for a special authorization in order to be allowed to travel to Canada using their valid non-Canadian passport.

The Federal government of Canada has been discussing introducing a new investment immigration program designed to attract high net worth individuals to the country. Canada’s Immigration Minister, John McCallum, announced that a new program is in the works that would allow foreign nationals to obtain Canadian permanent residency in exchange for a significant investment into Canada’s economy.
