Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Pilot Program (IIVC)

The Investor Venture Capital Immigration program is designed by the Canadian government to attract investors and their capital to Canada. By investing in Canada, the applicant and their immediate family (a dependent child, under 19 years old), are granted permanent residency in Canada.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Have a net worth of at least CAD 10 million, all legally acquired through business or investment (net worth acquired by inheritance or in the value of your primary residence are not included).
  • Invest CAD 2 million (not guaranteed), over a period of 15 years.
  • Prove your proficiency in English or French.
  • Have a Canadian post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma or the foreign equivalent. (However, the candidate can request an exemption from this requirement if they have a net worth of CAD 50 million which they can show has all been acquired legally.)
Program Benefits
  • Permanent residency is granted to the investor and their immediate family (a dependent child must be under 19 years old, allowing the family to share the same status.
  • As a permanent resident the candidate has the right to:
  1. Get most social benefits that Canadian citizens receive, including health care coverage,
  2. Live, work or study anywhere in Canada,
  3. Apply for Canadian citizenship (if requirements are met),
  4. Protection under Canadian law and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Are there any restrictions as a permanent resident?
Permanent residents are not allowed to:
  • Vote or run for political office,
  • Hold some jobs that need a high-level security clearance.

What is the language requirement for this program?
This program requires you to have a good level of English or French. You will be required to take a language exam and obtain a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 5.
